Types & levels

You have two ways to protect the value of your shipment: Waiver of Full Replacement Value Protection, or one of our regular insurance options.

The Waiver of Full Replacement Value Protection is also known as Released Value. This plan incurs no additional cost. Cend will accept liability for no more than 60 cents per pound, per article. For example, if a 10 pound stereo valued at $1,000 were lost or destroyed, Cend would be liable for no more than $6 (10 pounds x $0.60).

Regular insurance has a few levels to choose from, please see below.

For items worth more than $2,500 additional coverage is required.

Definitions & important info

Partial Loss: The term for when a part of the shipment is lost or damaged. If there is a partial loss, our team will try to repair the item first. If that’s not an option, we’ll calculate compensation. This amount is based on professional repair estimates or standard depreciation. We always consider the age and condition of your item.

Fair Market Value: This is the price your item would bring if sold on the open market between informed buyers and sellers. To determine value for most household goods, we use trusted sources like eBay to reflect what people are actually paying today.

Replacement Value: This is the cost to replace your item with a new or similar one. We always factor in depreciation to keep assessments fair and accurate.

PBO (Packed by Owner) Boxes: When you pack your own boxes (aka boxes that are packed by owner), we care for them just like the rest—but please note, items inside PBO boxes aren’t covered by any insurance, unless the box itself shows visible external damage upon delivery.

Electrical/Mechanical Derangement: Defined as  internal failures or malfunctions in your electronic or mechanical devices.

Pairs & Sets: In the event that we cannot repair or find the exact replacement, we will replace both/the entire set. For example, if one lamp in a matched pair cannot be repaired or replaced, both lamps would be replaced.

High Value Items: For any single item valued at $2,500 or more, additional coverage will need to be purchased. You'll also need to complete a high value inventory to ensure every important piece is protected.

Prohibited items

For your safety and peace of mind, certain items simply can’t go the distance. It’s against the law—and not safe—for us to move anything flammable, explosive, or corrosive. If prohibited items are included in your shipment, all coverage protection will be void. Hazardous materials include, but aren’t limited to:

Propane, butane, and scuba tanks are a no-go—even if they've been emptied or professionally purged. The US Department of Transportation classifies these containers as hazardous materials, which means they simply can’t travel with your household goods for everyone’s safety.

To keep your move seamless, we’re unable to transport any liquids that could freeze in transit. We can’t take responsibility for damage caused by liquids, so please leave these items out of your shipment.
